London Neighborhood Guide #3: Hello Hampstead!
Did you hear? Bridget Jones moved here. & I don't blame her
Even before moving to North London, I felt like I had a lot of similar characteristics to Bridget Jones. I’m sure we all do in some way. It’s why the character is so loved. She’s chaotic, positive, warm, relatable, and at the end of it all.. she’s just a girl!! Bridget is someone I’ve been able to relate to all through my twenties and into my early 30s. For this reason (and because the movie came out this Feb), I hosted a Galentines day event with the Sunday Strolls girls! I’m so glad we did it. There were moments where all the girls would burst out laughing in unison and silent bits throughout the screening where you could hear some sniffles. The entire film was, once again, totally relatable and had our emotions dancing at opposite ends of the spectrum. To my pleasant surprise, this film was set in a North London neighborhood that I love so much, Hampstead Heath. For starters—
— A mood board
& to go with it— A map!
A very special very curated map, that is. This map is filled with my favorite Hampstead Heath eats, drinks, viewpoints, and a couple filming locations you may be interested in from the movie (I love a filming location spotting. It helps me to romanticize places I’ve been by being able to see them in person and through cinematography.) If you’re coming to London soon and you’d like to do something a bit more calm, do come to Hampstead Heath!
