Taken directly from my screenshots album, these are the things I’m currently ogling over. Some of which I’m talking a lot about, some I’m re-integrating into my life, and others will stay on my wishlist until I cave.

Starting with lockets. Something I do not have but have been pinning. It goes along with the vintage concept I posted about in my previous Currently Obsessed article. Back when people carried wallet photos, we had lockets. I love this classic oval shaped locket with a tiny box chain. I’m not sure how I would feel putting anyone in there except Bear but that’s just me. I could put my boyfriend in there but why do I think that’s weird? Probably because I see him daily. Are you supposed to put a picture with you and a late grandmother? I’m not sure the rules here. But I like the concept. Either way, I’d have to get myself to print out a teeny tiny photo and goodness knows how long I’d procrastinate that but still here for the concept.

Basics are something I have focused on for the last two years. Especially with the weather in London that requires layering, basics are the easiest to mix, match, put on, and strip off. It’s a little boring but it doesn’t require much thinking and personally, I’m all for that. I’ve found a couple of simple tees from Uniqlo that are comfy and not too loose but not too tight. Obviously everyone has a different body shape they seem to run true to size. They aren’t long but they aren’t cropped they lay right at the denim line for me. That’s the sweet spot.

Have you read any of Kristen Hannah’s books? If not, highly recommend. The Women was our April book club book in honor of women’s history month and international women’s day. It details the accounts of a female nurse in the Vietnam war. The friendships, the heartache, the devastating reality. It’s a historical fiction with a few forced proximity timelines and a lot of trauma bonding. I found myself disappointed in how little I seemed to know about the Vietnam war before reading this book. I encourage you to read it, it’s genuinely a page turner. But I warn you, it can get a little gory.

My basil plant is alive and well these days and I’m praising the long bouts of sun we’ve been getting in London this time of year. It’s been absolutely glorious outside. Everyone is happy again. Life is good. Especially for my mini herb garden, which is exactly what I’m obsessing over. I’ve since added rosemary but have yet to use it. All rosemary recipes are welcome here. I’m excited to make this pistachio ricotta pasta that I found on the internet with the fresh basil. I’ve got plenty of leaves to use now so it’s only a matter of time.
I’ve recently changed my breakfasts from greek yogurt bowls with granola and fruit to oatmeal with a dab of peanut butter and cinnamon and a protein shake on the side (a simple one… not cute.. not tasty..sorry!). Last year I put on one of those glucose monitors and saw huge overwhelming spikes when I would do the yogurt bowls. It wasn’t a coincidence that I would have a mid day crash (narcolepsy aside) and feel lethargic soon after breakfast. Switching to the oatmeal and protein instead, I’ve had much more energy and a lot less cravings before lunch.
This brings me to another obsession, my dry pantry. We built a billy bookcase in my kitchen and filled it with mugs, plate bowls, cook books, and dry pantry items like pasta, oatmeal, and rice. I find it comforting to reach into my little self-made pantry and pull out a pretty glass and wood-topped oatmeal jar to pour my breakfast. It’s completely unnecessary, but equally satisfying.

Another obsession, which is one I’m bringing back around from last year, my five minute journal. I started slacking and I definitely noticed a difference in terms of general air of gratitude (let’s call it). I find that when I take the time to fill out this journal in the morning, my day is a little better, a little more productive, and generally positive. It also helps that I pair with the with productivity planner. I have taken pauses but when I’m on a long streak, I’m getting more done with seemingly less effort. Highly recommend starting each day with a little gratitude. As woo woo as that can be, it’s good to ground yourself and appreciate where you are now and what’s around you. Try it for a week, see how you feel. If you feel worse, stop, if you feel better… well, you’re welcome!

I think dessert and snack plates for decor will forever be on this list. I love them so much. This hand-painted floral set (pictured above) is from Maison Flaneur which has everything you want and nothing you need. Colorful, inspiring, unique pieces flow through the website. It would be a great place to get gifts for the person who has everything.
And with that, Current Obsessions must come to an end. I’ll be enjoying the sun all week. Clear skies in London baby!
Until next time!!
xx Katie
